dental cabinets like this one were popular from the middle of the 19th century. The styles could be very elaborate. The dental manufacturing companies produced many different designs and also offered a service for made to order cabinets to a dentist's own design. The popularity of these cabinets showed that dentists were beginning to maintain practices in one place, no longer travelling from town to town setting up temporary practices.
