dental cleaning set

cleaning set in velvet lined, leather bound box with mirror set into lid. Contents consist of toothpowder box, toothbrush head, toothbrush handle, two scalers, tongue scraper, earspoon, toothpick and a pair of tweezers.

From the late 18th century pocket travelling toilet kits became fashionable among the rich. They contained ornately crafted toiletry items made of silver, ivory or mother of pearl and were often made to order. There is evidence that these were mainly carried as a fashionable item rather than used for their oral hygiene purposes.
