injection cartridge, lignocaine

injection cartridge of Xylocaine for use in an Astra syringe.

A Swedish chemist, Nils Löfgren synthesised a new local anesthetic agent derived from xylidine. It was named lidocaine but was later sold under the trade name Xylocaine. Lidocaine was more potent but safer than procaine and it became widely used.
