black and white group photograph of the first BDA Annual Meeting held in August 1885 at Downing College, Cambridge. This photograph was sold for the benefit of the Benevolent Fund for 5s. The photograph was taken by BDA member Henry Bland of Nottingham.

The mount lists the names of the attendees; Frederick Canton, R. Roger, J. Spencer Bate, Alfred Jones, R.W. White, Oakley Coles, Sir Edwin Saunders, Sir John Tomes, Dr. John Smith, Richard White and James Parkinson.
